LINDSAY

Title: Job Placement Coordinator

Education:

Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

Currently a Bachelor of Social Work Student at the University of Calgary.

Program responsibilities:

I work with both youth and employers. With youth I help them build resumes, cover letters, and career planning/advising. I meet with employers to discuss what they look for in employees and to inform them about the YouthWorks! Program.

First job I ever had: My first job was when I was 15, I worked as a cashier at KFC/Taco Bell in Winnipeg…boy have I come a long way!

Top tip for youth searching for a jobDress for success. We live in a society that is very focused on appearance, so don’t give employers any reason not to call you!  Personality also goes a long way. A friendly attitude and smile can help get your foot in the door.

What I thought I would be when I grew up: I always knew that I wanted to be working in a profession where I could help people in need.

Top tip for career decision making: Find something that interests you. There’s no sense working a job that you hate. Not only will you feel negatively about your work, but others will notice too.

A job that I would love to “test drive” would be…..Being Barrack Obama’s assistant. That would be really cool J

One “thing” I am most proud of is……I’m the first of my family to graduate with a university degree. It was difficult putting myself through school while living on my own, so I’m very proud that I was able to do it.

One thing most people don’t know about me…….I’m terrified of crickets…I don’t usually tell that to people because they laugh at me haha.

Things I like to do in my spare time are: I love to paint, in High School I sold a few of my paintings.

The one person I would love to have lunch with is…..Perez Hilton. I can’t get enough of him lol.
