Current Position: Group Fitness Director OR Group Fitness Coordinator
Department: Adult Membership
Location: Medicine Hat Family YMCA
Start Date: March 22, 2010 (or earlier)
Salary: $24,500 – $37,000 (depending on qualifications/education/experience)
Benefits: Yes/ Depends on Hours / week

Hours: 25 – 44 hours per week (flexible schedule required)
Education Requirements for Director: Degree in Kin, PAS, Sport & Rec Admn, Phys Ed.
Education Requirements for Coordinator: Degree in any field, + specific training in area fitness leadership, OR currently working towards degree in Kin, PAS, Phys Ed, other degree plus specific training in fitness leadership
Other (not required):1st Aid / CPR, CEP / CSEP, AFLCA, CFC, YMCA Fitness Instructor
Job Description: This staff person directs and facilitates Men’s & Women’s ongoing Group Fitness programs & services at the YMCA 150 Ash Ave. location.
Job Responsibilities:
• Immediate Focus: Adult Exercise Classes- to understand & facilitate and directly program the existing class schedule in conjunction with paid staff & volunteers
• Teach / Instruct Adult Fitness Classes (cycling, step, muscular conditioning, other)
• Deliver individual exercise program counselling (fitness orientations)
• To facilitate adult fitness leadership development and ongoing support of volunteers within the culture of YMCA Values
• To ensure customer information of position related activities and services is maintained with the Front Desk Supervisor and website
• To make related equipment purchases as needed within the agreed budget
• Additional job assignments per association need and your interests, skills and experience may be mutually negotiated
• Supervise, Train, and evaluate part-time staff and volunteers
• Take part or take lead in a variety of committees and or special projects
