YMCA Stay in School Program

The YMCA Stay in School Program offers educational and life-skill programming to students grades 7 to 9. These students have the ability to succeed, but for one reason or another have not been successful in a regular junior high school setting.

Classes are held daily with mandatory attendance in a more flexible and supportive environment. Smaller class sizes, modified instruction, and a shorter school day are just a few of the factors that make our students more successful. In addition to academic development, students can access help with career planning, life management and self-esteem building. The YMCA Stay in School Program works as a team with students, parents, and community agencies in sharing the successes and responsibilities of problem solving. The program offers courses that meet the high standards of the Alberta Education Curriculum through classroom instruction from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.
