Mission

The YMCA Living Fit Program provides a safe, supportive, barrier free, health and wellness opportunity for people with or without disabilities.

Objectives

  1. To build strength, endurance, self-esteem, and a sense of control in participants
  2. Develop sustainable community involvement, mentoring, and peer support
  3. Promote independence of the participants

Who is the program for?

The program is low impact for people with MS, Cognitive disabilities, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, fibromyalgia, arthritis, cerebral palsy, stroke recovery, cardiac recovery and others

Do I have access to all YMCA fitness facilities and equipment?

All participants must purchase a YMCA membership to participate in the Living Fit Program and other YMCA programs and services. Participants have access to 25meter pool, 4 separate weight training areas, 2 separate cardio training areas, group fitness programs.

Who runs the program?

Participants have access to a qualified fitness leader who builds safe effective programs based on needs, goals, and time realities of the individual.

Is there financial assistance available?

Yes, the Medicine Hat Family is committed to providing programs and services to people regardless of economic circumstances. Please inquire at the YMCA Service Desk for more info.

Do I need a physician's referral?

No. You just need the will to improve your health.
